Here's A Funny One......

As some of you might remember, we went to visit our Audiologist to have Delaney's CI mapped very recently. Interestingly enough, the Audiologist broke one of the prongs off her implant while trying to fit it onto the computer equipment. She mentioned that it looked corroded and just snapped off (which I'm sure it may have, since it spent a night outside thanks to my ultra-responsible daughter), however, it was working fine for us, and didn't appear to be loose, but here's the kicker: We just found out that the warranty had expired four days prior to our appointment. OUCH. I *knew* we should have looked into some kind of extended warranty, although I will say, the warranty offered by Advanced Bionics does not cover accidental damage- only manufacturer's defect. Three years went by WAY to quickly, and we didn't deal with this with Emily because she received two Harmony processors when she got her second implant.

I'll keep you all posted on how quickly (and how costly) a processor repair is :)

Yikes. Thanks for the heads up, we're on year 2 on his first implant and we don't have an extended warranty either.

Yikes. I hope it isn't too costly- you spend enough in just batteries!

Kind of reminds me of the time I made the final, final, FINAL payment on Lauren's hearing aids and she lost one of them at the library. The battery ran out, the hubby didn't have batteries so Lauren tucked it in her sweatshirt and poof, it was gone.

Karen-

That's an OUCH for sure......I think I did that with a retainer once :) Not nearly as much money.

ohhh, that is SO MY LUCK!! We bought a four wheeler a couple of years ago w/a thirty day warrenty ($800.00) and it completely died (not worth fixing) two days after the warrenty. I said only a Yamaha from now on!! except ours wasn't a necessity and we weren't forced to replace quickly. But sounds like something that would happen to us.

Ouch! My three year warranty is coming up soon. . .

I found you from Christian's blog. Nice to meet you! Looking forward to learning more about the loudest house on the block!
