I HAVE to be losing db's by the day....

All I can say is that Jake better getter over this ear infection quickly. He has been on antibiotics since Monday evening, but he still has a fever of 101. His ears still hurts to the point that he cannot wear his hearing aids, which means if I let him watch any TV (which I am, because he's been home sick all day by himself for several days, and occasionally I have to get a few things done), the TV volume is unbearable. No exaggeration, I just can't be in the same room with him. I run down, turn the TV down, and as soon as I hit the stairs it's maxed out again. Please ears....heal quickly!!

I've often wondered what age I'll be when it's determined that I need hearing aids. Ethan has screamed so loudly in my ear so many times that I fear it's right around the corner.

Listen girls, I thought the same thing, and it's quite possible. When my kids wore aids, (both are profound w/ci's now) they did the ole high pitch scream in the car...had to be 90+ db's. It literally hurt my ears. I tried toys, etc. and what could I do, we had to drive places. Anyway I convinced myself last year to go get my hearing checked and I could still hear down to 10dbs across the board. If you are worried, you just need to make an appt. and take the 30 min. to make sure mom is hearing okay. As for the t.v. can you find a movie he's very familiar with and kinda knows by heart...something he could lay around and watch w/no sound...my kids do that but they can't hear anything w/out their ci's.

Val-

Good suggestion- I think I need to try that. Emily will watch movies with or without her implant (and like your kids, she can't hear a thing without her CI). Jake is a bit more demanding when it comes to sound (probably because he has had the best hearing). I think a hearing screening is probably a good idea- there have been so many times when my ears have just ached from all of the noise (mainly in the car- I had to laugh when you mentioned 'driving noise'). On the other hand, I am so hyper-sensitive to noises in the house, that I think I'm probably o.k. still (at least I hope -LOL)
