Trey gets his new hearing aid today.....

I am so excited! The kids have had the Widex P38s so long, and they have been a great hearing aid (really powerful, which is great when it comes to fluctuating hearing). Jake has one P38 and one c19, or maybe even a c9.  Anyway, after the "Milo incident" in which the hearing aid(s) became a doggie treat, we needed to replace one, so Trey is the lucky winner. Jake's hearing is better, and he does well with his aids, so I gave him our last spare P38.  The new hearing aid is so much smaller....and a lot less clunky looking then the Widex aid. Now, let's just hope it works better as well!

If it does work better, we'll be replacing Delaney's P38 (that she has had since she was 3....not bad for a hearing aid, right?).  I was told to expect them to last 5-7 years. She's had hers for 10. Which is great as they were not cheap when we purchased them.  $4,000 for the pair.

I LOVED my widex senso p38's and I had them since around the age of 8 until I was 13/14 years old, I was not happy when they decided to give me a new hearing aid. Took me a long time to get adjusted to a new hearing aid.

I loved my Widex senso p38's too, I had it for 8 years, it had sailed round the world, been travelling all over the world too and never failed. I was so gutted when the Hospital refused to replace them. I had no sucess with Oction, Untrion, Siemens or phonak digitals hence went for Cochlear Implant. After two years of using untrion analouge, I now use Phonak superos in my unimplanted ear and do like it.

I used to have Phonak Supero's too, but didn't work for me.

Lissa, I am sure u know that each person are different. I asked my Audiologist not to bother with med/high freq and put all the power onto the 250/500 hz so that I can get the maximum gain (it's on max with my 120db loss) and I am hearing the environmental sounds pretty well (and I haven't heard a thing in that ear for 16 years) and most importantly the low freq speech sounds which I can balance with the CI. I am due for my 2 year review and I am excited to see how much had improved since I got my HA.

Our old audiologist called the p38 the workhorse of the power aid category. I will second that. I will say, Trey's new HA is really high-tech looking- hopefully it works as well. It's a Phonak Naida, which our audiologist has had great success with. We shall see :) It's clear so you can see all the internal "gunk", that's the technical term ;)

I wish Trey a good luck on the Nadias!

I know that he will love that hearing aid. It is one of the best hearing aids in the market today. That will help him a lot.
