Well, I'm glad our 'alternate' audiologist was able to get Jake in today.....I called in a HUGE favor to the Audiologist at my son's private school, and she got Jake in. Bottom line, his good ear is down 20-30 db, and his bad ear, is down about the same (except at it's worst, which is down to 90 db...used to be at 50). It's a big drop- I guess the only good news is that he has 'significant' negative pressure in his ears, so hopefully we'll see a rise once the pressure is gone. The bad news is that that is how the other kids have lost all their hearing- started out w/ negative pressure, turned into permanent hearing loss (little by little). At least we know all about implants :)
Time to get the little angels (MONSTERS) to bed- he he

Awww....I hate that :( I know you were probably expecting it, but I know it has to be disappointing all the same!! *hugs*
Oh, man! I was hoping you would get better news.
What is the next step?

Sounds like you were expecting a drop in hearing levels, but it is still disappointing! Are they going to step up the monitoring of his remaining hearing? Hopefully he'll hang on to what he has for as long as possible!
Quick answer to all: Yes, we were expecting it, but I was hoping maybe it was just his hearing aids (if that makes sense at all). I'm still hopeful that once his negative pressure resolves, we'll see an upturn in his hearing. We'll go back after the holiday to see where we're at, and potentially crank his hearing aids back down.....
Anyway- he's still a ways away from qualifying for a CI, but he's also losing decibels pretty quickly. He had a drop at our appointment in August, and then dropped again. In some ways if he's going to end up w/ an implant, I'd prefer to do it as young as possible :)
